A local forester is getting recognized on a national level.

The National Office of the Society of American Foresters named Dubois County native forester, Janet Eger, this year’s Presidential Field Forester Award recipient for District 9.

District 9 is just one of the eleven SAF districts in the northeastern US.

Eger works for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as a District Forester, covering Lawrence and Orange Counties.

This award recognizes Eger for her innovative methods and record of excellence as a forestry practitioner.

Eger says she is honored and humbled to be nominated and receive this award.

This is Eger’s second prestigious award. She was elected as a SAF Fellow in 2006 for her exemplary action, sustained leadership, and advancement of the forestry profession.

Eger lives in Dubois County and has an office in Martin County.

Eger gets recognized on November 1st at the SAF National Conference in Louisville.
