Frederick L. Vittitow II, 87 of Ferdinand passed away Tuesday October 29th at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. Frederick was born February 20, 1932 in Louisville, Ky. to Frederick & Lenora (Bartley) Vittitow I. He was united in marriage to Stella May on March 27, 1954 in Saint Meinrad Catholic Church.

Frederick was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church, and its Church Bible Study Group. He was a carpenter for Rahman Lumber Co., Wilmes Window manufacturing, and The Stens Corporation. Frederick was a retired 20 year member of the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. Frederick was an avid fisherman, especially ice fishing and was a member of both Spencer County and Dubois County Bassmasters Clubs. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Happy Go Lucky and Hoosier Camping Clubs. He enjoyed spending the winter in Florida.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Stella Vittitow. Three daughters, Carla (Raymond) Gogel of Green Valley, AZ., LaVonne (Russell) VanWinkle of Bristow, and Sonya (Randy) Waninger of Ferdinand. One son Fred (Tammie) Vittitow III of Dubois. Seven grandchildren, Christopher VanWinkle, Philip Gogel, Patrick VanWinkle, Alyssa Englert, Amanda Schebler, Jordan Vittitow and Courtney Vittitow. One sister, Gloria Reiber of Dayton, OH. And one brother, David Weyer of New Zealand.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday November 4th in Saint Ferdinand Church. Burial with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124 to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
