The Indiana State Police Jasper Post has a new sergeant in town.

ISP Superintendent Douglas G. Carter announced Detective Mike Allen’s promotion to sergeant on Thursday.

As Sergeant, Allen now serves as a District Squad Leader for Troopers assigned to the Jasper Post.

After graduating from Springs Valley High School in 1997, Allen joined the United States Marine Corps.

The veteran began his Law Enforcement Career in November 2001 in Orange County.

After getting invited to the 72nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in July 2012, Allen endured six months of vigorous training.

When graduating from the Academy, Allen was also presented with the Firearms Proficiency Award by DR Paul Whitesell.

Superintendent Carter named Allen as District Trooper of the year in 2014 and 2017. Adams was also recognized as Indiana Trooper of the Year in 2017, and a recipient of the Combat Action Award and Bronze Star.

Allen was promoted to Detective in 2018, and transferred to investigations, specializing in Crimes against Children.

Allen has served in several capacities throughout his career with the Indiana State Police, including:

  • Tactical Intervention Platoon/Riot Team where he was deployed to Cleveland Ohio for the Republicans National Convention.
  • Hostage Crisis Negotiator (covering 36 Counties and has had over 40 Negotiations).
  • Clandestine Lab Technician/Meth Suppression (certified in Quantico Virginia and responsible for dismantling Meth labs and unknown powders.
  • Honor Guard (Casket watch, firing party and folding of the flag at Officer Funerals and other public events.
  • Field Training Officer (direct training of new Troopers)
  • Drug Recognition Expert (Certified at the Indianapolis Metro Police Facility and Jacksonville Florida. Specializing in drug-impaired driving and testifying as an expert on the witness stand for prosecutors and other agencies.
  • Critical Incident Team (serves as a critical incident officer assisting officers who have been involved in the Critical Use of Force incidents.

Allen and his wife, Rosie, still live in Orange County and have three children, Meagan, Emily, and Blake.
