Janice Carol Rainey, 79, of Oakland City, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 16, 2022, at her home.

She was born May 23, 1943, in Lorado, West Virginia, to Melvin and Geneviee (Presnell) Miller; and married Russell Wayne Rainey on October 10, 1963, in Carmi, IL.  She was employed by East Gibson School Corporation for 47 years. During her time at EGSC, she worked in many positions including the cafeteria and substitute teaching. She took great pride in her infamous Wood Memorial Concessions and could be found selling tickets at sporting events. She was a devout member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 52 years. Janice enjoyed serving at her church, Wood Memorial Sports, and spending time with her family.  She loved Jesus and made it her mission to lead everyone she met to Him. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Rainey (October 22, 2018); her children, Rusty Rainey, Connie Hill, and Lisa (Harold Dean) Hughes; and siblings, Donna, Lawrence, and Laymon Miller.

She is survived by one sister, Brenda Herbst; ten grandchildren; Tim (Erica) Rainey, Tyler (Breanne) Rainey, Shayla Clark, Mariah (Jon) Adams, Morgan (Andy) Carter, Kelsey Scherzer, Destiney Hughes, Trent (Kaydi) Rainey, Jacob Hill, Christian Hill; sixteen great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Holly Rainey; and one son-in-law, Mike Hill.

Funeral services for Janice C. Rainey will be held at 10:00 a.m., C.D.T., Friday, October 21, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oakland City with burial to follow at Montgomery Cemetery. Rev. Marianne Hawkins will officiate the service.

Friends may call for visitation at Trinity United Methodist Church from 4:00-7:00 p.m., C.S.T., Thursday, October 20th.  Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com.
