The Loogootee Police Chief along with deputies of the Martin County Sheriff’s Department and a Indiana Conservation Officer responded to Loogootee Elementary School upon the report of a man with a gun.

A release from the Martin County Sheriff’s Department says both Loogootee Elementary School and Loogootee Jr./Sr. High Schools were placed on a hard lock down shortly before 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. The Martin County Sheriff’s Offices received a 911 call from a student saying there was a man with a gun threatening to kill them in the elementary school.

Authorities searched both schools and were able to lift the lock down about ten minutes later.

No unauthorized individuals or a gun were located.
Deputies say their investigation is ongoing.
