The driver of a semi truck who died after his rig rear ended another semi truck on Interstate 64 Friday morning in Warrick County has been identified.

Warrick County Coroner Sarah Seaton says the preliminary cause of death of 58-year old Richard Crawford of Auburn, Washington was smoke inhalation. Crawford’s truck caught fire after the collision.

The crash occurred near mile marker 37. Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse says one witness told authorities that the truck that was rear-ended had its four-way emergency lights on. The driver of that truck was injured.

The wreck caused the eastbound lanes of I-64 to be closed for several hours, with one lane reopening just before 3 pm CDT Friday afternoon.
