In a recent post by the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, a call to action was made for the community to help the family of a former Spencer County Deputy who lost their life.

On Monday, August 5th, Huntingburg Corporal Ted Klem’s wife and former Spencer County Deputy Amanda Klem suffered a tragic accident. Despite all life-saving measures, Amanda succumbed to her injuries on August 7th. Amanda leaves behind their 7-month-old daughter, Madison.

The post said they are reaching out to the community for support, and are asking for donations to help secure Madison’s future. Donations made will go towards ensuring she has the opportunities and support she needs as she grows up, including for her education, daily care, or future endeavors.

Donations can be made by Venmo at this link https://venmo.com/u/FOP-WoodCapitol, mailing a check to Huntingburg Police Department, 503 East First Street, Huntingburg, IN 47542, with “FBO Madison” as the memo, or putting cash in an envelope marked “FBO Madison Klem” and dropping it off at the Huntingburg Police Depart or giving it to any Dubois County FOP member. The FOP Lodge 138 will present a check with the Venmo donations to Ted and Madison.

The Facebook post stated that the Fraternal Order of Police stands in solidarity with Klem and Madison in mourning, extends their heartfelt condolences to the entire family and that their thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this period of grief.
