An Odon woman is dead after a single-vehicle accident.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to the single-vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road 600 East and County Road 900 around 10:50 this morning.

When arriving on the scene, police discovered one occupant in the vehicle. 63-year-old Susan Hert was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Hert appeared to be traveling southbound on County Road 600 East just north of County Road 900 East.

For an unknown reason, Hert swerved into the gravel before running off the road, striking an embankment head-on. This caused the vehicle to flip onto its roof.

Hert was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor at this time. An autopsy is pending.
