Hilbert “Hopper” Gogel, 59 of Mariah Hill passed away Saturday August 3rd in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. Hilbert was born November 4, 1959 in Huntingburg to Leo J. & Edwina
(Schipp) Gogel. He was united in marriage to Angie DeMuth on September 28, 1985 in Saint Meinrad Catholic Church.

Hilbert was a truck driver for Winkler Wholesale. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Mary Help Of Christians Church. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Angie Gogel, one daughter, Jenna (Tyler) Rickenbaugh of Newburgh, three sons, Heath (Krista) Gogel of Holland, Lance Gogel of Huntingburg, and Trent (Emily) Gogel of Ferdinand. Three grandchildren, Jace Gogel, Claire Gogel, and Luke Gogel. Five brothers, Pat (Cindy) Gogel, Leon (Debbie) Gogel, and Eddie Joe (Sherry) Gogel all of Dale, Marty (Sharon) Gogel of Huntingburg, and Chris (Debbie) Gogel of LaGrange, GA. Eight sisters, Doris Krutz of Evanston, Barb (Bill) Wissel and Stella (Mike) Miles both of Huntingburg, Katie Fleck of Jasper, Norma Kress of Santa Claus, Wanda (Bob) Luebbehusen of Dale, Helen (Darrel) Riley of St. Croix, and Paula (Tim) Brumitt of Evansville. Hilbert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lester Gogel.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 CT Wednesday August 7th at Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM CT Tuesday and from 7 to 9:30 AM CT Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
