A Birdseye man and woman were arrested late Tuesday afternoon on drug charges after their vehicle ran off the side of a county road east of Huntingburg.
Just after 5:30 Tuesday afternoon deputies with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department received word of a car that was reportedly off the roadway and in a yard along Patoka Road just north of State Road 64.
Once on the scene deputies say they discovered the car and that the driver 35-year old Nicholas Gordon of Birdseye, was trying to get the vehicle into reverse.
A deputy reported that Gordon initially could not get the car door open, was staggering and failed field sobriety tests. A blood screen at Memorial Hospital allegedly came back positive for marijuana.
Gordon was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on a misdemeanor count of operating under the influence of drugs.
Authorities say a passenger, 36-year old Sarah Goldman also of Birdseye, was found to be in possession of a glass smoking pipe and plant material alleged to be synthetic marijuana.
Goldman was booked into the security center on misdemeanor counts of possessing a synthetic drug and possession of paraphernalia
