Now as we mentioned, a second decorated bicentennial bison will make its debut Sunday in Jasper.

the 5-foot-tall fiberglass bison will be part of the German American Bank’s float in Sunday’s Strassenfest parade. Jasper High School art teacher Josh Dodd and his art students painted on the bison scenes at the Dubois County Courthouse and Jasper City Mill.

The bison is sponsored by Jasper Community Arts, Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools and Vincennes University Jasper Campus, who are members of the partners in education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Dodd also painted a fiberglass bison like the German flag. That bison, which is sponsored by Redevelop Old Jasper Action Coalition, is on display at the German American Boulevard near the Jasper Train Depot and the 3rd Avenue bridge over the Patoka River.

The bison is part of the Indiana Bison-tennial project to help celebrate the state’s 200th anniversary this year. At least one bison will be in each of Indiana’s 92 counties.
