Jasper Police close their investigation of recent vehicle break-ins that took place more than two weeks ago in the Holy Family area on Jasper’s southeast side following interviews with three juveniles involved.

Police responded on Sunday to a report that three juveniles were spotted looking into and taking items from vehicles along the 900 block of MacArthur Street in Jasper. The police located the three juveniles and found that they were in possession of stolen property. Police notified the juvenile’s parents and then interviewed the three juveniles about the recent vehicle break-ins around the Holy Family area that occurred August 21. During the interview, one of the juveniles admitted to being involved and provided the name of another juvenile that was not in custody at the time of the interview.  The juvenile led police to a wooded area off 3rd Avenue where some of the stolen items were recovered. The officer then went to the juvenile’s home and located many of the remaining stolen items.

Police filed charges against the two juveniles for felony counts of theft and unauthorized entry into motor vehicles. The Jasper Police Department would like to thank the public for their vigilance and assistance in notifying them of suspicious activity that lead to the solving of this case. The department would also like to remind residents to always keep their vehicles locked in order to prevent items from being stolen from their vehicles.
