A pair of Jasper men were jailed after they were accused of theft from the Jasper Walmart store Sunday afternoon. Jasper Police say shortly before 5:30 pm Sunday officers made contact with a vehicle and two men who were believed to be involved with a number of thefts from the northside retailer at the El Maguey Restaurant near the intersection of 36th and Newton Streets.

Police took the men 20-year old Austin Hammock and 54-year old Mark Sanders both of Jasper into custody after Walmart asset protection personnel told police the two had been taking items from the store and then returning them to customer service and exchanging them for gift cards.

Both Hammock and Sanders were taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on a misdemeanor count of Theft.
