Eugene W. Goodman, age 86 of Celestine, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday Morning (January 3, 2017) at home.

Eugene was born in Dubois, Indiana on February 7, 1930 to Theodore and Leona (Zehr) Goodman. He married Mildred M. Miller on June 20, 1953 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2004.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the St. Anthony American Legion Post #493.

Eugene was a farmer in the Celestine area, and also worked for Aristokraft Cabinets in Celestine and Jasper for many years.

He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Parish – St. Peter Celestine Campus, and a member of the Celestine Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Celestine Community Club.

He enjoyed farming, gardening, making wine, fishing, and telling stories.

Preceding him in death beside his wife was a granddaughter, Alicia Holden, Daughter-in-law, Denise Goodman, and two sisters, Pauline Sermersheim and Nancy Eichmiller.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene Goodman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (January 9, 2017) at St. Peter Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The St. Anthony American Legion Post #493 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from Noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday (January 8, 2017) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. The Good Sheppard of the Hills Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 11:45 a.m.
