A Jasper Man was placed under arrest over the weekend for allegedly being drunk and slumped over the wheel of his vehicle while in the drive-thru of a Jasper fast food restaurant.

Just before 4:30 pm Saturday afternoon dispatchers with the Jasper Police Department received a call from employees of Rally’s restaurant who said there was a possible drunk male subject slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle while in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane. They also reported that they noticed an open container in the vehicle.

Police arrived at the restaurant and identified the drivers as 31-year old Luis Alberto Benavides of Jasper. Memorial Hospital emergency medical services were also called to the scene but police say Benavides declined treatment.

A filed sobriety test was conducted before Benavides was taken to Jasper Police Headquarters where his blood alcohol content tested at .09%.

He was then taken to and lodged into the Dubois County Security Center.
