Local marching bands from Jasper, Southridge, Forest Park and Northeast Dubois High Schools are set to compete at the next level on Saturday as they plan to take part in the Indiana State School Music Association Scholastic Prelims and Open Class Invitational at Jasper’s Jerry Brewer Allumni Stadium.

Overall the event consists of 23 bands including all four Dubois County Schools and will be run in five classes.

The Jasper High School Marching Wildcats compete at 7:14 pm Saturday in Open Class B with their show “City of Gold”.

The Marching Wildcats last weekend placed first in the Class AAAA preliminary round, before scoring a second place finish in the finals last Saturday at the Festival of Champions at Murray State University.

Southridge will take Joe Rohleder Field at Jerry Brewer Allumni Stadium in Open Class D at 4:38 tomorrow afternoon. The Marching Raiders competed at Romain Stadium at Evansville Harrison High School last weekend but did not place.

The Forest Park Marching Rangers will also perform in Open Class D at 4:25 pm after finishing first at the Springs Valley Invitational last Saturday.

Northeast Dubois will perform their show “Expand and Contract” at 2:02 pm Saturday for a shot at a trip to the ISSMA Scholastic Finals at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis later this month. The Marching Jeeps will advance if they earns a gold rating this weekend.

Regional competitions for bands in the Open Class will take place next Saturday October 14th.
