A Jasper man was placed under arrest Monday evening on battery charges after authorities were called to investigate the report of an apparent battery victim at a local medical facility.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday, officers with the Jasper Police Department were called to the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, where they learned that an individual was being treated for injuries sustained from a battery.  After further investigation, officers located the suspect, 28-year old Christopher Jefferson at his residence and took him into custody.

He was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security center on a misdemeanor count of battery.
