The report of a domestic battery at a north-side Jasper apartment complex over the weekend ended with the arrest of a Jasper man on several charges.

Around 1:30 Saturday afternoon officers with the Jasper Police Department were called to an apartment, located along the 400 block of Kirkwood Drive in Jasper, in reference to an ongoing physical domestic dispute.

Police say an investigation determined that 51-year old John Hemmer of Jasper had battered a female during the altercation. They allege that Hemmer threw the woman up against a wall by her neck. Police also noted that Hemmer tested .13 on a portable breath test.

Hemmer was placed under arrest and taken to the Dubois County Security Center where he was booked for Domestic battery, Disorderly Conduct and Invasion of Privacy.

Police say Hemmer’s Domestic battery charge was elevated to a felony due to multiple prior unrelated convictions.
