A traffic stop of a scooter with reportedly expired plates Tuesday evening lead to the arrest of a Jasper man on a drug related charge.

Around 9 o’clock last night, an officer with the Jasper Police Department conducted the stop at the intersection of 14th and Newton Streets.

Police say while conducting the stop, 28-year old Christopher Barrett of Jasper gave authorities indications of nervousness and evasiveness.

Once the traffic stop was complete, officers received consent to search Barrett and found one gram of a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine inside his right, front coin pocket.

Barrett was placed under arrest and was charged with a Level 6 Felony count of Possession of Methamphetamine.
He was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
