A Huntingburg man was placed under arrest for allegedly battering a female juvenile because her grades were not up to his standards.

Around 6:30 Wednesday evening two individuals walked into Huntingburg Police Headquarters to report a battery.

The juvenile victim told police she was punched in the arm by 44-year old Jason Houchins of Huntingburg as a form of punishment because her grades were not quite the level that Houchins wanted them to be.

The juvenile alleged that Houchins told her that the punishment would continue until her grades improved.

The female juvenile refused treatment and Houchins was eventually arrested without incident and taken to the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper where he was booked on a Level 5 Felony count of battery on a family member less than the age of 14.
