A fourth person added his name to the upcoming caucus for the office of mayor of Jasper
just before the deadline to file.

Dubois County Republican Chairman Mark Messmer in a text message to local media
Sunday afternoon announced that Bernie Fallon will be the fourth person on the ballot.
The cutoff to declare was at 12 noon yesterday.

Fallon joins Jasper City Council members Nancy Eckerle and Dean Vonderheide along with
resident Levi Hulsman as they hope to be selected to replace outgoing Jasper Mayor Terry
Seitz.

Seitz announced on December 13th that he will resign from office effective December 31st
to take a position on newly elected U.S. Senator Mike Braun’s staff after the first of the
year.

Back in 2011, Fallon made a bid for the democratic nomination for mayor of Jasper won
by John Burger who eventually lost to Seitz in the general election.

Messmer says Fallon did vote in the 2018 GOP primary election making him eligible to file
for the caucus election.

The caucus to select a new mayor for Jasper will be held the day after Christmas.

The county Republican party will hold the caucus at noon Wednesday in the Pfaffenweiler
Room at Jasper City Hall.

Republican committee members in districts that vote for mayor will hear comments from
candidates and vote on a successor to Seitz

The caucus will select a candidate to finish the last year of Seitz’s term.
