District 48 State Sen. Mark Messmer of Jasper welcomed 16 students from his southwestern Indiana District to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages in January and February.

Local students who served as pages this winter include:

Isabelle Blazey of Jasper. She attends Jasper High School

Sydney Boyd, from Petersburg who attends Pike Central High School

Abigail Gibbs, Esther Gibbs and Hannah Gibbs from Winslow who are homeschooled students.

Shelby Harpenau, from Rockport. She is a student at South Spencer High School

Amanda Line, from Petersburg who is a homeschooled student.

And Andy Line and Moriah Line from Petersburg. They are homeschooled students.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse, touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senators.

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
