A Dubois County man was treated for minor injuries after the dump truck he was operating was involved in a single vehicle rollover accident along an Orange County highway late Monday morning.

A post on the Indiana State Police Jasper District’s Facebook page says just before 12 noon yesterday, 54-year old Herman Epple of St. Anthony, was traveling westbound on US Highway 150, east of Cave Quarry when he became distracted by his cellphone and lost control of his 2003, Sterling, Dump truck.

Police say Epple’s vehicle overturned, spilling nearly 20 tons of gravel onto the roadway.

Police say Cave Quarry officials were kind enough to send some of their equipment to the scene to help clear the roadway as quickly as possible for motorists in the area.

Epple was treated at the scene for minor injuries. police say he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Indiana State Troopers at the scene were assisted by the Orange County Sheriffs Department, the Paoli Fire Department, IU Health EMS, Cave Quarry and the Indiana Department of Transporation.

Both lanes of US Highway 150 were closed as a result of the accident for about 2 hours.
