Around 8 PM last night, Saturday, July 27th, 2024, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired at Rainbow Lake in Derby.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that two individuals had suffered suspected gunshot injuries from shots fired at Rainbow Lake. A third individual had also suffered minor injuries from broken glass. Two minors were transported to area hospitals for their injuries.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office later located two vehicles that were involved in the shooting leaving the area. A male juvenile from Kentucky was arrested and transported to a juvenile facility. The juvenile is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness, pointing a firearm, dealing marijuana, and possession of marijuana.

No names are being released since most of the individuals involved were minors. The Indiana State Police was contacted for the investigation into the shooting and the case is still being investigated.
