Actors Community Theatre is thrilled to unveil the upcoming 2024-2025 Performance Season Lineup with the public! After a painstaking selection process, the ACT Board of Directors has selected three distinctly unique theatrical experiences for performers and audience members to attend.
First up is “Twisted Tales of Poe” by Philip Grecian. Performed as a radio play, this drama will intertwine four (or more) stories from the works of Edgar Allan Poe into one macabre tale that will haunt the audience long after they’ve left the theatre. “Twisted Tales of Poe” will take place at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center, Black Box Theatre, on Friday, October 10th, and Saturday, October 11th, 2024.
Next, by popular demand, they are bringing back the dinner theatre experience with “Rumors” by Neil Simon! Regardless of your seat, you’ll have the best one because you’ll be on-stage with the talent for the entire show (and did we mention, there will be food?). Set in a large, tastefully appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though it’s only a flesh wound, Charlie Brock’s self-inflicted injury sets off a series of events causing four couples to experience a severe attack of farce. “Rumors” will fill the stage of the Jasper Arts Center on Thursday, April 3rd, Friday, April 4th, and Saturday, April 5th, 2025.
Finally, they present the summer musical experience you do not want to miss: “Mary Poppins” The Musical! Crafted by outstanding artists such as Julian Fellowes, Robert B. Sherman, Richard M. Sherman, George Stiles, and Anthony Drewe, “Mary Poppins” invites us into the world of London, England, in 1910 — specifically, into the dysfunctional home of the Banks family. Jane and Michael, the young Banks children, have sent yet another nanny packing, dismissing these children as hopelessly and irrevocably spoiled and misbehaved. With a father who works constantly and a mother who is always distracted, Jane and Michael have suffered without strong caretaking forces in their lives. Then the magical Mary Poppins flies in on the wind, bringing with her a combination of whimsy, magic, and disciplined common sense to the children’s lives. Together, they go on memorable and magical adventures — and also learn the importance of a tidy nursery and of taking the medicine they need. Mary Poppins’ transformational influence does not stop with the children — eventually, she teaches the grown-ups as well to open up and realize that “anything can happen if you let it.” The magical musical of “Mary Poppins” will take residence in the Jasper Arts Center from July 24th to July 27th, 2025.
Actors Community Theatre, based in Jasper, Indiana, has provided the community with cultural and educational entertainment in all branches of dramatic arts for over 75 years.
