A fire damaged the kitchen and porch area of a home on Main Street in Huntingburg on Monday evening, as firefighters from the Huntingburg Fire Department responded to the scene. The fire was reported shortly after six o’clock.

One person was in the home when the fire broke out but escaped unharmed. The house was undergoing renovations, and no one had yet moved in, but the incident will delay the move-in date for the family.

Traffic along US 231 between 2nd and 4th streets was diverted while firefighters battled the blaze. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
