In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month, Locking Arms For Suicide Awareness, a Dubois County non-profit organization is preparing for its 5th Annual Benefit on Saturday, September 14. This event aims to raise awareness and funds to support individuals affected by suicide.
The benefit, which first started in 2019, will be held at Venue 1408 on Main Street in Huntingburg from 5 PM to 10 PM, with doors opening at 4 PM. This year, the event will include the VET CENTER mobile unit, providing additional support and resources specifically for current and past veterans.
Activities for the benefit include silent auctions, guest speakers, a live DJ, a cash bar, and food. Tickets are available for purchase at $30 per person, $55 per couple, and $12 for children aged 6-15. Children under 5 are admitted for free. Online ticket sales close on Saturday, August 31, and all attendees will be entered into a door prize drawing.
Attendees who have lost loved ones to suicide are invited to bring photos to display on a memory table as a way to honor their memory. For those unable to attend but wishing to support the cause, sponsorships, donations, and volunteer opportunities are available.
Volunteers are especially needed on Friday, September 13, starting at 8 AM for setup, and on Saturday, September 14, beginning at 4 PM to help manage the event. Volunteers will receive free tickets and meals as a token of appreciation, subject to availability.
For more information about sponsorship, donations, volunteer opportunities, or becoming a member, please visit the Locking Arms For Suicide Awareness Facebook page or contact a board member directly. All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase training materials, and secure resources to aid Locking Arms in its mission to serve Dubois County and the surrounding area.
