On September 2, 2024, at approximately 3:46 AM, Dubois County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an accident on State Road 64 approximately 300 feet west of Schnellville Road (Birdseye). During the investigation, it was determined that a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling westbound on State Road 64 when for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered off the north side of the roadway.

The Chevrolet Camaro traveled approximately 600 feet, rolling over, before coming to rest on its top, down an embankment. A male individual was transported by ambulance from the scene to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The accident is still under investigation and no names are being released at this time

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Indiana State Police, Birdseye Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Sternberg’s Wrecker Service.
