The Jasper DeutscherVerein and Sister Cities of Jasper have announced multiple upcoming events to be held this year.

The next meeting of the Jasper DeutscherVerein will be held on Wednesday, September 18th, at the Jasper Moose Lodge, located at 2507 North Newton Street. Doors will open at 6 PM with festivities to begin at 6:30 PM. The program will be the Strassenfest Wrap-Up. A meal will be served but members are asked to bring a salad or dessert.

The Sister Cities of Jasper will be having “Sontag Mittagessen” Sunday Lunch on Sunday, September 29th, at the Schnitzelbank Restaurant from 10:30 AM to 1 PM. This is a drive-through-only fundraiser benefitting the JHS Exchange Program and meals will be available while supplies last.

The cost is $18 per meal and the menu is a fried chicken dinner (1/4 white or 1/4 dark) with German fries, green beans, and creamy slaw or two Bratwursts with green beans, and sauerkraut; with each meal including one cookie.

On Sunday, October 6th, the Jasper DeutscherVerein, Sister Cities of Jasper, and the Jasper Partnership Commission will be celebrating German American Day at the KlubHaus61 in Jasper, with doors open at noon and the ceremony and festivities beginning at 12:30 PM

The celebration will include a buffet lunch with a Proclamation by the Mayor, the presentation of the German Heritage Award, culinary exchange participants, and student exchange participants.

Tickets are $20 for the lunch buffet including an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea and lemonade. There will also be a cash bar. The menu will consist of some German favorites with a new twist as prepared by their culinary exchange participants.

The November meeting of the Jasper DeutscherVerein will be the annual auction benefitting the JHS Exchange Program on Wednesday, November 20th. Ed Boeglin will be the auctioneer. The meeting will be held at the Jasper Moose Lodge with doors opening at 6 PM and festivities to begin at 6:30 PM. A meal of Pork Steak, au gratin potatoes, and green beans will be served, and members are asked to bring a salad or dessert.

Members and Exchange Student families are asked to bring donated items (pies, gift baskets, homemade noodles, homemade bread, etc.) to be auctioned to raise funds for the JHS Exchange Program.

The year will end with the annual Jasper DeutscherVerein Christmas dinner meeting on Thursday, December 12th, at the Jasper Moose Lodge. Doors will open at 6 PM with festivities to begin at 6:30 PM. A dinner of chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, creamy slaw, rolls, and dessert will be served. The cost of the meal is $15.
