Heart of Jasper has earned the prestigious designation of a Nationally Accredited Main Street, joining an elite group of communities recognized for their excellence in revitalizing downtown districts. The honor was announced today by Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
Heart of Jasper, along with Main Street Corydon and Main Street Greensburg, met the rigorous standards set by Main Street America to achieve this distinction. These organizations advanced from the Indiana Accredited Main Street level by demonstrating outstanding performance across six accreditation standards.
“This accomplishment reflects the dedication and spirit of those who work tirelessly to enhance their communities,” said Lt. Gov. Beckwith. “It’s about more than economic impact—it’s about the people whose efforts represent the heart of Indiana.”
As a Nationally Accredited Main Street, Heart of Jasper will gain access to specialized training, resources, and networking opportunities through Main Street America and Indiana Main Street. This designation also includes a formal certificate recognizing their status as a top-tier program in the state.
“Main Streets are the cultural and economic anchors of our towns,” said OCRA Executive Director Fred Glynn. “We are proud to recognize these programs for their contributions to making Hoosier communities stronger.”
With the addition of Heart of Jasper and the other newly accredited organizations, Indiana now boasts 19 Nationally Accredited Main Street communities.
