A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a missing 14-year-old girl was located in a Paoli motel room on May 29, 2025. The incident has led to multiple felony charges, including rape and sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the Paoli Police Department, officers were alerted around 11:00 a.m. that the missing juvenile might be in the area. Officer Garrison subsequently found the girl at a local motel in the company of Shane Messer, 20. Information at the scene suggested that a sexual assault may have occurred, prompting authorities to detain Messer immediately.

Detective Z. Cook conducted an interrogation during which Messer reportedly confessed to engaging in multiple sexual acts with the juvenile over a four-day period. The girl was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and care.

Messer was taken to the Orange County Jail and booked on the following charges:

  • Rape
  • Sexual Misconduct with a Minor
  • Criminal Confinement
  • Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor

Authorities emphasize that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
