The Dubois County Museum has announced the winners of their Second Annual Photo Contest, showcasing remarkable talent from local photographers. Ninety entries were submitted, with eighty-six from adults and four from young artists, though no teenagers participated this year.

Throughout May, both the public and two local professional photographers, B.C. Baggett and Robert McCarty, judged the submissions. The dual judging process allowed both community preference and professional expertise to shape the recognition of outstanding work.

In the People’s Choice Awards, Susie Kutch claimed first place among adults with her charming “Animal-Coons” photograph. John Dillon’s powerful “After the Storm” earned second place, while Laurie Wilhite’s “Mt. Hood Reflection” secured third. In the youth category, Allie Lueken’s “Wyatt the Dog” captured first place, with Luis Bradford’s “Looking for Dinner” taking second.

The professional judges awarded John Dillon’s “After the Storm” first place in the adult category, proving its universal appeal. Susie Kutch earned second place for her “Black & White” composition, while Cameron Schoenbachler’s “The Long Haul” took third. Young Aaliyah Bradford’s “Spring Beauty” won the youth professional category.

Twenty additional photographers received Honorable Mention recognition, including works by Elaine Hopf, Tasia Baker, Sandy Fischer, Lynn Mehringer, Kris Gutgsell, Christy Vaal, Barb Keusch, Laurie Wilhite, James Patterson, Anthony Wolfe, Eric Russ, Connie Mundy, and Janice Williams. Luis Bradford also received a youth honorable mention for “For the Lookout for My Babies.”

The winning photographs will remain on display through August 10, offering visitors a window into how community members see and interpret their world. Winners may collect their prizes at the lobby desk, while photos may be picked up after August 10.

The Dubois County Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays. General admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for high school students, and $2.00 for elementary and middle school children. Children under 4 receive free admission.
