The Dubois County Health Department is committed to promoting health, safety, and hope in our community. As part of that mission, the department is now providing free Suicide Prevention Kits to the public.

The kits are designed to give individuals and families tools that can help prevent tragedy and save lives. Each kit includes:

  • Narcan (Naloxone): a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose
  • Gun lock: to promote safe firearm storage
  • Drug disposal pack: for safe and easy disposal of unused medications
  • Local and national mental health resources

“Suicide is a complex and devastating issue that touches many families in our community,” Shawn Werner, Administrative Director of the Dubois County Health Department. “By making these resources available, we hope to empower people with practical tools and connect them to the help they need.”

The Suicide Prevention Kits are available for pickup through the drive thru anytime at the Dubois County Health Department, located at 1187 S. St. Charles Street, Jasper, IN. No appointment is required, and kits are free and confidential.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for immediate support. For more information about the Suicide Prevention Kits, contact the Dubois County Health Department at 812-481-7050 or visit www.duboiscountyin.org.
