Brian K. LaRoche has officially announced his candidacy for Dubois County Sheriff in the 2026 election, seeking the Republican nomination. LaRoche said he is running on a platform focused on public safety, integrity, and strengthening community partnerships.

LaRoche is a veteran of the United States Army and the Indiana National Guard. He holds an Associate of Science degree in law enforcement from Vincennes University. His career with the Indiana State Police has included assignments at the Connersville and Jasper Posts, as well as the Criminal Investigative Section’s Drug Enforcement Section.

During his time at the Jasper Post, LaRoche led the district in OWI arrests for five consecutive years and earned multiple honors, including two Meritorious Service Awards, a Lifesaving Award, and recognition as Employee of the Quarter on two occasions. He has served in several specialized roles, including Field Training Officer, Squad Sergeant, K-9 handler, and a member of the TIP Team. He currently serves as a road trooper.

With nearly 26 years of experience in state law enforcement, LaRoche emphasized his understanding of the challenges facing Dubois County and the importance of strong relationships between law enforcement and the community. His involvement includes serving as both President and Vice President of the local Fraternal Order of Police. Outside of policing, he works as a licensed sports official in high school football, basketball, and baseball.

LaRoche and his family live in the Huntingburg area and are active members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where they volunteer for community events. He said his goal in seeking office is to help ensure Dubois County remains a safe and welcoming place to live, work, and raise a family.

LaRoche is asking for voter support ahead of the May 2026 primary election.
