Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) has announced Sarah Fleagle, BSN, RN, is the recipient of the Q4 2025 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Fleagle, a nurse in the hospital’s Medical-Surgical Department, was recognized for her compassion, mentorship, and dedication to nursing excellence.
Fleagle was nominated by nursing student Ashlyn Ford, who worked alongside her during a clinical preceptorship. In her nomination, Ford shared the profound impact Fleagle made on her learning experience and on the care of patients across the unit. Ford also praised Fleagle’s commitment to education, noting her patience and clarity in teaching not only how to perform nursing tasks, but also why those tasks matter in the bigger picture of patient care.
Fleagle has served at DCH as a key member of the Med/Surg team, where she is known not only for her clinical skill and attentiveness but also for her calm demeanor and ability to support both patients and peers through busy shifts.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is part of an international recognition program that honors the clinical skill and compassion nurses provide to patients and families every day. At DCH, honorees are selected based on the DAISY Foundation’s PETALS criteria: Passion, Empathy, Trust and Teamwork, Admirable Attributes, Love for the Profession, and Selflessness.
Each DAISY Award honoree is celebrated in a public ceremony and receives a personalized certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved “A Healer’s Touch” sculpture. The celebration also includes a cinnamon roll reception—an homage to the favorite treat of J. Patrick Barnes, who the DAISY Foundation was established in memory of.
