A new partnership between Ascension St. Vincent and Vincennes University is aiming to strengthen the region’s healthcare workforce through a newly launched training initiative.

The two organizations have introduced a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Hybrid Program, designed to provide accessible, specialized training for individuals pursuing careers in healthcare. The inaugural 15-week cohort began this week.

The accelerated program combines online coursework with hands-on clinical experience, allowing participants to gain practical skills while maintaining flexibility in their schedules. The hybrid format is intended to better prepare students for the demands of the healthcare field while offering a pathway to career advancement.

Program leaders say the collaboration blends classroom instruction with real-world clinical training, helping participants build both knowledge and experience in a healthcare setting.

The first cohort is currently limited to Ascension St. Vincent associates, reflecting a focus on internal workforce development and retention. However, both institutions plan to expand the program in the future to reach a broader audience.

Ascension St. Vincent operates 19 hospitals across Indiana and employs more than 13,000 associates, while Vincennes University continues to play a key role in workforce education across the region.
