The Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District is inviting community members to attend a free Compost and Cover Crop Workshop focused on improving soil health and reducing waste.
The workshop is scheduled for May 12, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 5:15 p.m. The event will take place at the CTIM Building at VUJC, located at 861 College Avenue in Jasper, in rooms 227 and 226 on the second floor.
The program is designed for anyone interested in learning simple, practical methods to improve soil quality at home, in gardens, or on farms. Attendees will gain insight into composting techniques, the benefits of cover crops, and how these conservation practices contribute to healthier and more resilient growing systems.
Presentations will be led by Mathew Knepper of Evanston Valley Enterprise and Megan Ayers of Indiana Small Farms Conservation, who will share their expertise and real-world applications of these methods.
A complimentary dinner and raffle will be provided for participants who RSVP by May 8. The workshop is free and open to the public.
