The Dubois County Sheriff is among three Indiana officials now facing felony charges following investigations conducted by the Indiana State Police.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Thursday that Dubois County Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter, Clinton County Sheriff Richard Kelly, and Clinton County Jail Matron Ashley Kelly have each been charged in connection with separate but related criminal cases.

Kleinhelter is charged with false informing and official misconduct. According to investigators, the charges stem from allegations that he made multiple false statements to Indiana State Police during a 2024 investigation involving theft and fraud.

Richard Kelly faces two counts of aiding, inducing, or causing fraud, along with charges of aiding, inducing, or causing theft and official misconduct.

Ashley Kelly has been charged with two counts of fraud, as well as theft and official misconduct.

The charges follow a detailed investigation by state police into alleged wrongdoing involving public officials. No further details on court appearances or potential disciplinary action have been released at this time.
