The Dubois Branch Library has announced the list of events they will be holding in May 2026.
The library would like to note they will be closed on Monday, May 25th, 2026, for Memorial Day.
In addition, Summer Reading begins on Tuesday, May 26th. All ages are welcome to stop in to the library to pick up their reading log, or sign up on the Beanstack app.
- Tuesdays in May from 3 to 4 pm – Activity Corner for ages 8 and up – Enjoy snacks, games, and fun activities after school. The May 19 Activity Corner session will be a Lego Club Meeting. There will be no Activity Corner on May 26.
- Wednesdays in May at 9 am – Yes2Next – Light cardio and strength training for older adults following a video. Registration is required and must be made by calling the library. There will be no Yes2Next on May 27.
- Fridays in May at 9 am – Chair Yoga – Yoga for older adults and those with mobility issues following a DVD. Registration is required and must be made by calling the library. There will be no Chair Yoga on May 15 or 22.
- May 1-30 – Puzzle Exchange – Bring in a puzzle and trade it for a different one.
- Saturday, May 2 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm – Open Playtime for all ages – Enjoy a variety of toys and puzzles in the library community room.
- Monday, May 4 from 12 to 6 pm – Card Playing Day for ages 18 and up – Enjoy hanging out with friends and playing card games.
- Wednesday, May 6 from 2 to 7 pm – Open Card Making for all ages – Utilize the library’s card-making supplies and craft a card for someone special. This activity is great for upcoming holidays like Mother’s or Father’s Day!
- Thursday, May 7 at 11 am – Frog Storytime for ages 2 to 6 with an adult – Bring your toddler for stories about frogs, crafts, and playtime.
- Saturday, May 9 from 11 am to 12:30 pm – Pokémon Club for trainers ages 8 and up – Read Pokémon books, watch a movie, and complete fun activities. Bring your own games and cards to trade and play!
- Monday, May 11 at 6 pm – Watercolor Planet Painting for ages 8 and up – Use watercolors to paint planets, then design them in your own unique way. Registration is required.
- Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 pm – Friends of the Dubois Library Meeting – All are welcome!
- Friday, May 15 – Bring Flowers to Someone Day – Pick up a flower to give someone or craft your own flowers to give.
- Saturday, May 16 from 11 am to 12:30 pm – Minecraft Day for ages 8 and up – Come to the library to celebrate Minecraft’s Anniversary by watching a movie, checking out Minecraft books, and completing fun activities!
- Monday, May 18 at 6:30 pm – End of the Month Book Club – This month the club will be discussing The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman. Pick up a copy at the front desk and join the discussion. New members are always welcome!
- Tuesday, May 19 from 3 to 4 pm – Lego Club for ages 8 and up – Create your own Lego masterpieces and enjoy snacks after school.
- Wednesday, May 20 at 5:30 pm – Beaded Suncatcher for ages 17 and up – Create a whimsical suncatcher to add to a garden or window. Registration is required.
- Friday, May 22 through Saturday, May 30 – Sherlock Holmes Scavenger Hunt for all ages – Celebrate Sherlock Holmes’ Birthday by decoding the mystery message to win a prize.
- Wednesday, May 27 from 4 to 7 pm – Summer Reading Kickoff Party for all ages – Tons of fun for the whole family! Enjoy a giant inflatable slide, bubbles with the Mobile Makerspace, reading to a dog from the Dubois County Humane Society, an Insect Zoo, indoor and outdoor games, popsicles, and lemonade!
- Thursday, May 28 at 11 am – Farming Storytime for ages 2 to 6 with an adult. Bring your toddler to hear stories about farming, paint a barn, and play with friends.
- Friday, May 29 – Learn About Composting Day – Stop by to learn more about composting.
Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all Dubois Branch Library events.

The Dubois Branch Library’s hours are Monday and Wednesday, 10 AM to 8 PM, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 AM to 6 PM, Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM.
