Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 in Dubois County will conduct its annual Buddy Poppy donation drive from Saturday, May 2 through Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The Red Buddy Poppy has been a longstanding symbol within the VFW community since 1922, serving as the organization’s official memorial flower. It represents the sacrifices made by American service members and honors those who gave their lives in service to the nation.
Funds raised during the drive will remain local, supporting veterans in need throughout the Dubois County area. The effort reflects the VFW’s mission of honoring fallen service members while assisting those who continue to live with the impacts of their service.
As part of the program, disabled veterans are compensated to assemble the poppies, providing supplemental income that can help improve their quality of life.
Community members will have opportunities to contribute at several locations in Jasper, including Walmart, the Post Office, Holiday Foods, Rural King, and Hometown IGA.
VFW Post 673 expressed appreciation to the participating businesses for hosting donation sites and thanked community members for their continued support of local veterans.
