The Spencer County Tourism Commission has announced that $5,000 in grants is available to tourism-related not-for-profit groups again in 2016.

In March, the commission plans to award grants to assist qualified organizations, events, or tourism-related entities promoting tourism in Spencer County. The event or project for which the grant funding is requested must increase visitor attendance from outside the immediate area.

Spencer County Tourism Commission President Eric Snow says the past year has been great for tourism growth in Spencer County and the grant program is designed to keep that momentum going.

Snow says the tourism commission saw a strong response to the program earlier this year and look forward to supporting further tourism development and maintaining their position as a top tourist destination in the region.

The Spencer County Visitors Bureau is the office of the Spencer County Tourism Commission. Visitors Bureau staff are available to educate local organizations and tourism-related entities about the grant program. To request an application or for more information, call the Visitors Bureau at (812) 937-4199.

Completed applications must be received no later than February 15, 2016.
