Mark Kunkel a 1978 Graduate of Jasper High School is seeking the District 4 seat on the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Board currently held by board president Nancy Habig who announced earlier this week she will not seek re-election after serving the board for well over 30 years.

Kunkel and his wife Sharon are lifelong residents of Jasper.

Kunkel has a bachelor’s of science in accounting from Indiana State University. He worked for E&K Electric for twenty-four years where he was an estimator/manager, responsible for million dollar construction projects.

Kunkel was a member of a group that help restore the Cabby O’Neil Gymnasium. He has served on the Dubois County Contractual and Jasper Public Library boards for the last four year, serving on the finance and building committees.

He is on the Dubois County Museum’s building committee. He has also been a member of the Jasper High School Football Booster club and served as its president. He coached both Little League and Girls Softball.

He and Sharon are members of the Jasper German Club and have participated in the German Exchange Program, hosting a number of students from abroad and will do so again in October.

The Kunkels have three children.
