A pair of juveniles were injured after they were ejected from an ATV during a crash that occurred early Sunday evening in the Celestine area.

Yesterday just before 6:30 pm, deputies with the Dubois County Sheriff’s office were called to the intersection of County Road 75 North and County Road 820 East where authorities say they found that a 14-year old male was operating the ATV southbound on 820 East. Police report the male attempted to turn left onto County Road 75 North, but hit a loose patch of gravel in the middle of the intersection.  The ATV continued southbound running off the south side of the roadway, into a ditch, and struck a metal fence. Both the male driver and the female passenger were ejected from the ATV.  Deputies say the juveniles were not wearing a helmets or other protective equipment. The driver sustained an abrasion to the leg and refused to be transported to the hospital.  The passenger complained of left side pain and was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Memorial Hospital EMS and the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department.
