David “Davey” E. Wilz, age 67, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday morning, January 11, 2017, at his home. He was born February 12, 1949, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Hilbert P. and Alberta H. (Marks) Wilz. David was formerly employed for 12 years at the Jasper Novelty Plant #2 in Jasper; and recently retired from Kimball Office’s 15th Street Plant where he worked for 39 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching basketball games; and loved spending time with family and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joan Craig; one brother, Hilbert “Butch” Wilz; his nephew, Chad Mutchman; and his niece, Theresa Whitaker.

He is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Linda (Eugene) Sherman and Mary (David) Mutchman both of Huntingburg, Ind. and Carol Dischinger of Owatonna, Minnesota; his co-worker, friend and caregiver, Rodney Kapp of Jasper; and by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for David E. Wilz will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Madden.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday. A parish vigil prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
