The River Centre project in downtown Jasper is continuing to progress as planned as the sale of the former Jasper Cabinet building, which has been sitting vacant for decades, has been finalized and is ready for the next phase of development.

Developer Jane Hendrickson of Boxer Girl, LLC, will be utilizing what was commonly-known as the “kiln building” of the former Jasper Cabinet property to develop approximately 80+ room hotel with General Hotels Corporate from Indianapolis.

Demolition of the remaining buildings, which will allow for 75 market-rate apartments and
approximately 36,000 square feet of retail and office space with ample parking, is anticipated for March and will last approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

Hendrickson has been working with Cripe and Taylor Seifker Williams Design Group to design the commercial space, while CWC Latitudes has been assisting in management of the project.

Hendrickson in a release says she is excited to see River Centre moving into the next phase of development. She says she believes this project will be the hub of activity and economic growth for downtown Jasper and the Riverfront area.

The River Centre project is a $30+ million investment into the local community, and along with the future Jasper Library and Cultural Center in the former Hoosier Desk building, will be an asset to the downtown Riverfront area.
