Betty L. Pieper, age 81 of Dubois, Indiana, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at home.

Betty was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on April 6, 1935 to Arthur and Rosa (Steffe) Hoing. She married Eugene “Jiggs” Pieper on June 19, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, IN.

Betty was a homemaker and previously worked as a hairdresser, and at Stork Hospital in Huntingburg.

She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, IN.

She was an avid IU Basketball, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Eugene “Jiggs” Pieper, two daughters, Marcia Knust, Cuzco, Gwen Kelley (Jeff), Celestine, IN, five grandchildren, Trisha Eichmiller, Jami Weikert, Katie Knight, Sierra Ward, and Natasha Ward, six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jones, Laken Eichmiller, Katelyn and Reese Weikert, Alexis and Greyson Hackney.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty L. Pieper will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Saturday at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
