Anna Malinda Kern, 90 Jasper, formerly of Fulda died Saturday April 1, 2017 in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center, Jasper. She was born March 2, 1927 in Perry County Indiana to Andrew & Agnes (Zoglman) Sitzman. She was united in marriage to Leo P. Kern on February 15, 1947 in St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1988.

Anna was a member of Saint Boniface Parish in Fulda and its Ladies Sodality. She was an active member of the quilting group at Saint Boniface. She was a former regional farm bureau woman’s leader. She was a member of a Tell City square dancing club, a lifetime member of Farm Bureau, the Fulda Sportsman Club and Spencer County Co-Op. She traveled to every state in the U.S and visited Canada and Mexico. She enjoyed quilting, square dancing, crossword puzzles, reading the farmer’s almanac, gardening and canning vegetables, and flowers.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Franchville of Tell City and Sandra (Gary) Ward of Santa Claus. Two sons, Louis (Karen) Kern of Fulda and Ken (Annette) Kern of Jasper. A daughter-in-law, Marilyn Simon of Jasper. Eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death also by 2 sons, Leroy and Bobby Kern, her parents, a grandson, Aaron Franchville, 1 son-in law, Bud Franchville. Three brothers, Roman, Dan, Ronnie Sitzman and two sisters, Rose Marie Pfieffer and Romilda Oser.

Funeral services for Anna Kern will be held at 10:00 AM CDT Wednesday April 5th in Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM CDT Tuesday and from 7 to 9:30 AM CDT Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
