Virginia G. Heim, age 89, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 11:02 a.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at home.

Virginia was born in Litchfield, OH, on June 5, 1928, to Victor and Lorena (Zehr) Gehlhausen. She married Edward J. Heim on April 8, 1947, in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana. He passed away on March 4, 1990.

She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, St. Ann’s Society, and the Ireland Sportsman’s Club.

She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, fishing, and spending time family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Doug (Mary) Heim, Evansville, IN, Stan Heim, Ireland, IN, three daughters, Wanda (Gene) Leisman, Schnellville, IN, Marcia (Jim) Zehr, Dubois, IN, and Barbara (Don) Kirkwood, Evansville, IN, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, two brothers, Arthur Gehlhausen, St. George, UT, Edgar “Boots” (Dian) Gehlhausen, Dubois, IN.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are three sisters, Janice Gerber, Vera Brown, and Wilda Barnett, and one brother, Kenneth Gehlhausen, who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Virginia G. Heim will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. St. Mary Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund or to a favorite charity.
