Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company is excited to welcome Hunter Whitaker and Jason Sermersheim as summer Finance Interns. Working in Administration, Hunter will assist administration personnel with daily projects that include stress testing, Current Expected Credit Loss Model (CECL), Integrative Teller Machines (ITM’s), rolling out an intranet, and other projects as assigned. Working in Trust, Jason will assist administration personnel with daily projects that will help create a better investment model for our customers.

The foundational values of the Springs Valley Bank Internship Program include a focus on attracting local talent to the Bank and identifying potential future employees. Other benefits of the program include revitalizing our organization with fresh perspectives and supporting students in our local markets by providing a vocational experience that will aid in their long-term development.

Hunter Whitaker

Hunter is a 2014 graduate of Springs Valley High School. He is currently an undergraduate student attending Franklin College. He is majoring in finance and is expected to graduate with his Bachelor of Science degree in December 2019.

He is a member of the Franklin College Golf team and is involved in the Business Club. Hunter has been a Cart Attendant at the Pete Dye Course in French Lick since 2012. At Springs Valley, he played 4 years of basketball, 4 years of golf, and two years of football. He was a member of FCA and National Honors Society.

Hunter is the son of Tony and Julie Whitaker. He has an older sister, Morgan and a younger brother, Braden. He is a member of Syria Christian Church in Orleans.

Witaker says he is excited to join Springs Valley this summer and help contribute to an organization that has a positive impact on the community and he’s eager to learn from a great group of people.

Senior Executive Vice President & COO Craig Buse said they are excited to have Hunter join them this summer and he have no doubt that his excellence in academics and sports will carry over to his contributions at Springs Valley.

Jason Sermershiem

Jason is a 2015 graduate of Jasper High School. He is currently an undergraduate student attending Indiana University (IU).

He is majoring in finance and business analytics, and is expected to graduate with his Bachelor of Science degree in May 2019.

Jason is the son of Greg and Sandy Sermersheim. He has two brothers, Logan and Brandon. Jason is a member of St Mary’s

Parish, a peer tutor at Indiana University, and a member of IU’s Ski and Snowboard Club. His hobbies include: exercising, playing video games, softball and playing cards.

Sermershiem stated that he is very excited to have the opportunity to intern at Springs Valley and look forward to learning and working with experienced individuals who are passionate about improving the financial quality of life of each customer.

Senior Executive Vice President & Trust Officer Marty Kaiser said they are looking forward to adding Jason as a member of their team and he expects Jason’s finance and business analytics education will provide the foundation needed to tackle the complex projects we have ready for him. Kaiser also said this internship will give Jason valuable work experience while helping improve the productivity of Springs Valley so they all win with this internship program.
