Last night, an officer with the Jasper City Police Department observed a vehicle with a missing tail light. The officer stopped the vehicle at 14th and Newton Streets.

The female driver, later identified as 40-year-old Heather Kavanaugh of Jasper, false informed the officer of her last name. The Officer was able to make a positive identification of the Kavanaugh and learned she had an outstanding warrant. The plates on the vehicle were also false and fictitious. A search was done on the vehicle where officers found methamphetamine, a controlled substance, marijuana, and paraphernalia.

Kavanaugh was taken into custody and lodged into the Dubois County Security Center on charges of Possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and refusal to identify.
